Some good news this week, we found out that our farm has been approved for a grant from the USDA for high tunnel construction. We are one of seven to be funded in Texas. High tunnels have been around for awhile & there are already high tunnels in Texas. However, this is the first time Texas has been included in this NRCS program which is part of the USDA’s efforts to expand sustainable agriculture.
A high tunnel looks a lot like a greenhouse, except it is usually not heated. They are used for season extension, crop protection, soil improvement, water conservation and many more things. You can read more about the NRCS program here:
